- Can you fix my laptop at home?
- Yes. Most laptop and desktop repairs are done at your kitchen table or your office desk while you are there. We bring the tools, the spare drives and the software we need. You do not have to unplug anything or drive your computer anywhere, and you can see exactly what we do to it.
- What if it needs a part?
- Screens, keyboards, hinges, batteries, fans and drives have to match your exact model, so they get ordered in. Before we order, we tell you the price of the part and how long it should take to arrive. If you would rather not spend it, that is fine and there is no pressure from us.
- Will I lose my files?
- Our normal repairs leave your files where they are. If the drive itself is the problem, getting your photos and documents off is the first job we do, before anything else is touched. We are honest about the odds on a failing drive rather than promising everything comes back.
- Do I need to back up first?
- It is never a bad idea if the computer still starts and you have a spare USB drive handy. If it will not start, leave it alone and let us look. Turning a struggling drive on and off repeatedly can make things worse. We can also set up a proper backup while we are there.
- What if it cannot be fixed?
- We tell you straight, and we tell you why. Sometimes a board is dead or the cost of parts is more than the machine is worth. In that case we can copy your files, help you choose something sensible, and set the new machine up with your email, printer and passwords working.
